Clive Hamilton is well-known for his radical critique of Western capitalism and consumerism. Kamal Weerakoon reviews his latest book The Freedom Paradox, in which Hamilton argues for an alternative basis for social interaction. Clive Hamilton’s thesis is that to be truly free humans must live in accord with our ‘moral self ’.
