1. Second CASE conference on medical ethics: Saturday 27 March 2010
We are excited about a one-day CASE conference that is planned for the 27 March next year on the topic of Medical ethics: Christian perspectives on life and death. Please mark this date in your diaries. This is our second Sydney forum where those interested in a biblical approach to the issue of medical ethics can meet. The conference will cover a broad sweep of ethically issues in the medical field. We think it will be a vital day for students and practitioners in the health professions, and indeed, for all interested members of the general public. The conference will run from 8.30 am - 4.00 pm and will be held at New College in Sydney (UNSW); for more information: click here.
2. Latest Case Magazine – #21 on the theme of otherness
Our current issue of Case is out. As the title suggests, this issue considers how we relate to ‘the other’. This isn’t just a philosophical and theological discussion to keep scholars busy; it is an immensely practical topic of concern to all people. This is a challenging topic for all of us who live in pluralistic societies. How easy do we find it to embrace our neighbours let alone our enemies? And in a more practical sense, how does this discussion challenge us as citizens to collectively take responsibility for aliens and strangers. Make sure you purchase a copy of this issue or sign up today to see this engaging and thought provoking issue of Case. Become a CASE Associate to receive a copy of Case 17 and the subsequent three issues of Case. By becoming a CASE associate you will also receive discounts/free entry to CASE events and will have access to associates-only resources on our website. We are looking forward to our second CASE conference in 2010 on the important topic of medical ethics. We hope that in the midst of the often frenetic pace of Christmas you have time to rest and reflect on the momentous event of the first Christmas. I thank you for your support in 2009 and wish you all the best for 2010. Look forward to more news from us in 2010.
