We have run out of hard copies of some of our early issues of Case magazine. However, we would like to make these issues available to our CASE Associates. We have just put the first three issues of Case up on this site and will continue to put up other issues over time. If you are a CASE Associate and would like to access these early issues you need to become a member of this site by following the instructions here. Case magazine was launched in 2002 with the aim of showcasing the work of CASE (the Centre for Apologetic Scholarship and Education), that is, the work of advancing knowledge of God through applying a Christian perspective to contemporary issues within a broad apologetic framework. This work is reflected in the wide range of topics covered in these first three issues of Case . These topics include:
- Christian thinking on war and aggression
- Exploring God’s relationship to time
- Reconnecting faith and scholarship
- Globalisation and religion
- Building a Christian worldview
- The biology and theology of gender
- History, fiction and the Bible: do they mix?

1. Christian perspectives on life and death - CASE conference on medical ethics
We are excited about a one-day CASE conference that is planned for the 21st March this year on the topic: ‘Medical ethics: Christian perspectives on life and death’. This is our first attempt to bring to Sydney a forum where those interested in a biblical approach to the very topic issue of medical ethics can meet like-minded colleagues. The conference will cover a broad sweep of ethical issues in the medical field. We think it will be a vital day for students and practitioners in the health professions, for Christian workers and indeed, for all Christians.
The topics are:
- Why should Christians be interested in ethics in Medicine?
- Ethical issues at the beginning of life
- Medical research involving children
- The ‘euthanasia debate’: clarifying the issues, the notion of autonomy and a Christian response
- Victorian abortion legislation—where does conscientious objection fit in?
- ‘My Soul Died When My Baby Died’: The Grief of Abortion
There will also be a panel consisting of the day’s speakers (Andrew Cole, Megan Best, Patrina Caldwell, John Dearin, Mel Cusi and Melinda Tankard Reist) when participants can ask any questions to do with bioethics.
The costs (including morning tea and lunch) are:
- $40 for full-time students and pensioners
The conference will run from 8.30am-4pm and will be held at New College in Sydney (UNSW). You can download the conference brochure and registration form from our website here. Registrations close on Monday 9th March.

We hope the CASE website will be a good resource base for Christian apologetics and a meeting point for anyone interested in learning about, discussing and contributing to Christian apologetics.
